Student Leadership

Workshops Focused on Servant Leadership Training

Create a Culture of Excellence Driven by Student Leaders

The fundamental theme of the student leadership workshop series is focused on SERVANT LEADERSHIP. The building of positive character attributes is the foundation of the leadership-message, resulting in the awareness: "We cannot lead others until we lead ourselves." The goal of the student leader is to become an exemplary role model for those who choose to follow. Built on the adage: "If you’re a good leader, people will admire and respect you; if you are a great leader, people will admire and respect themselves," the fast-paced, hands-on presentations afford the participants the opportunity to connect to their unlimited potential.

If you are interested in booking a student leadership clinician, please check the Student Leadership Workshop option in the form below.

*At this time, all student leadership workshops will be delivered virtually. We will offer in-person workshops once it is safe to do so.

  Tim Lautzenhesier Testimonials

"Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser is a close friend, mentor, and role model of mine. He is one of the most sincere, kind, and helpful people I have the pleasure of knowing. Beyond that, he is a master of bringing the best out of students and student leaders. His workshops are inspiring, his words are powerful, and his ability to engage his listeners is absolutely unparalleled. There are not words to adequately describe the respect I hold for Dr. Tim."

-Daniel Morrison
Director of Bands, Ronald Reagan High School, Texas

"Simply put, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser is THE premier voice for student leadership in the music education world. Dr. Tim's insight, experience and expertise are second to none and his work has had a profound impact on my students and I. It's not just the information he provides, which is research based and full of practical application, it's the WAY he communicates. His stories are not only relatable and helpful but often humorous and deeply moving. Dr. Tim also takes time to talk to those he meets who simply want his input or advice or perhaps just a little motivation. Time after time, year after year, I've witnessed a long line of students and directors waiting to get just a word with him after a session at a conference, and he patiently talks with each one. If you've not heard or met Dr. Tim, you're missing an opportunity for growth - to be challenged and motivated! There are few individuals who can say they've reached multiple generations of students and educators with such a positive message and fewer still who can keep a roomful of listeners absolutely spellbound - ultimately enlightened and inspired - so few in fact, I know of only one - Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser."

-David Mobley

"Dr. Tim Lautzenheiseris a one-of-a-kind communicator who has had a profound impact on the growth of our TSLCA student performers and organization. Tim's student leadership workshops have a unique way of navigating our students to view themselves and their values from the inside out. We have been attending Dr. Tim's leadership workshops for over 20 years, which is always a highlight of our students' experience. The content of Tim's information not only empowers but helps equip our students with the necessary tools to fully explore their own leadership potential. Tim's dynamic delivery style and tremendous energy inspires us to live up to a higher standard. We would not be the program we are today, without his guidance and leadership. Tim is truly a national treasure."

His infectious optimism and spirit of gratitude naturally shine through as he inspires students and teachers alike to pursue their passion for music. Having been immersed in Matthew's message of Upbeat Leadership and the power of positivity at CSI, as well as with the NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles and with my own high school students in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, I can say without a doubt that he brings innovation, empathy, and energy to a whole new level. My outlook on music education and enthusiasm for teaching has been forever changed because I crossed paths with Matthew. I can't wait to see what's next as he encourages us all to go beyond our best!"

"Working with Dr. Arau for the past seven years has been one of the best decisions our band program has made. The positive, customized approach to leadership has empowered our students and vaulted our program to new heights. His ability to give every student a voice and empower them to take action has given our students the confidence and tools to enact actual lasting positive change in our band program. He has worked with everyone in our program from our staff, to the student leadership team, and even the whole band to give us all the tools for a more upbeat and enriched band experience."

-Brittany Dacy

"Inspiring– I was really impressed by Dr. Arau’s ability to keep our student leaders engaged for hours at our first ever “virtual” leadership camp. The positivity he brought to the camp was truly amazing. Our students learned more than they thought they would, and the content covered really gave us an amazing start to this school year!"

-W. Andrew Buttermore

"Sending my student leaders to Dr. Arau’s Upbeat Virtual Leadership Academy was an easy decision! The students came back inspired, motivated to serve their section/band in a more meaningful way, and even took the initiativeto reach out to incoming band members before our band camp activities began. Thank you for providing them with the tools to be successful student leaders!”

"You and your students are in for a treat you will never forget when spending time with Frank Troyka! His passion is evident through the energy he brings when working with students. The lessons he taught, stories he told, and the effect he had on our students, is still seen in our program today."

-Matt Harloff

"Frank Troyka is an inspiration to me and our band program. Frank has come to Hawaii to work with our band for many years, and each year he continues to motivate the students to achieve things they never knew they could. He has helped us to foster success, leadership, and most importantly, heart. Our program has accomplished so much since Frank’s involvement, and I am so fortunate to be able to learn from this master teacher."

-Chadwick Kamei
Pearl City High School Band, Hawaii

"I have worked with Frank in many capacities throughout the years. I have always found him to excel at every level and to exceed all expectations. Frank has headed up our Texas Bandmasters Association Student Leadership program from its inception over ten years ago. When we started, we were hoping for a couple hundred students to attend the TBA Convention and we would provide some leadership training. Very quickly we exceeded those meager expectations and this event has served around 1500 students annually."

-Michael Brashear
Executive Director, Texas Bandmasters Association

"Simply put, Frank Troyka is a 10. He pours all of himself into each session with student leaders while providing tangible resources for the participants to take home and use right away. His real-world approach to leadership sets every organization up for success from day one."
